Crossing Chicago Avenue just south of Calumet Junction. It was about this time that Mr. Claytor began using 4449's "steamboat" chime whistle. If you've never heard one of these whistles in real life you have no idea of how they actually sound. "Enchanting" isn't quite adequate. |

This is actually at Gibson Junction in Hammond (just south of East Chicago) but I wanted to keep the photo set together on one page. 4449 has just arrived at IHB's Gibson Junction and has accessed the IHB mainline. She's heading west past the Gibson shops area. Farewell, Beautiful Lady; and I hope we meet again someday. |

After passing south through Calumet Jct. in East Chicago, 4449 accessed the e/w IHB mainline at Gibson Junction in Hammond. She's seen here heading west past the IHB's Gibson shops area. Farewell, Beautiful Lady; I hope we meet again someday. |
